April 19, Bethesda, MD – Calvert Impact announced today that sales of Calvert Impact Capital’s Community Investment Notes® through InspereX, its selling agent for brokerage firms, have exceeded $1 billion over the lifetime of the program. Robust demand from retail and institutional investors, and their financial advisors, will allow Calvert Impact to expand its work in under-resourced communities globally and advance its mission of creating a more equitable and sustainable world.
“We are grateful to the more than 20,000 investors and 600 financial advisors that have used our flagship impact investment offering,” said Justin Conway, Vice President of Investment Partnerships. “By supporting initiatives that keep housing affordable, small businesses thriving, and climate solutions accessible, our investors are advancing social justice and environmental sustainability.”
Calvert Impact Capital lends to and invests in organizations around the world that create affordable housing, finance small businesses, deliver renewable energy, increase sustainable agriculture, and more. As reported in its 2022 Impact Report, its capital through its portfolio partners reached 144.4 million end clients, the majority of whom are women and people of color, financed over 4 million small businesses, and helped reduce nearly 19 million metric tons of C02.
“As the affordability of housing shrinks nationally, our work is becoming more critical and it’s so important to have partners like Calvert Impact that are dynamic and dedicated to impact,” said Kimberly Latimer-Nelligan, President of Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF), who most recently partnered with Calvert Impact on the Keeping Homes Affordable Fund. “Their support has been essential to our ability to preserve and rehabilitate affordable units for those facing housing insecurity.”
Calvert Impact Capital has cumulatively raised more than $2.5 billion in the Community Investment Note® since 1995, and its partnership with InspereX since 2005 has greatly increased its ability to make impact investable through more than 125 brokerage firms.
“We applaud the Calvert Impact team and are proud to have played a part in helping them reach this milestone,” said InspereX CEO John DesPrez. “We look forward to helping them raise–and, more importantly, seeing all the good that they can do with– the next $1 billion.”
